What are Jivamukti Yoga Open Classes Like?
Open to practitioners of all levels, the Jivamukti Open Class flows by connecting breath to movement through a series of postures that ground, open, expand, and animate the practitioner.
Each Vinyasa class begins with the transformative sound of one's voice in chanting, allowing practitioners to come into their innate capacity to listen and attune to shifting rhythms within them and around them. This opening practice sets the foundation for a deeply connected and conscious yoga experience.
The practice unfolds through carefully crafted elements that deepen alignment through listening:
Chanting to awaken your voice and inner listening
Dynamic Vinyasa Flow connecting breath and movement
Yoga Philosophy woven throughout the practice
Thoughtfully Curated Music to enhance the journey
Skillful Sequencing that builds and releases energy
Hands-on Assists for deeper connection and alignment
Meditation integrated throughout the flow
Graceful and Vigorous Flowing that challenges and nurtures
This comprehensive approach creates a practice that is both accessible to beginners and deeply satisfying for experienced practitioners, emphasizing the cultivation of awareness and attunement in every moment.

Candela Vega
Began her journey as a Jivamukti Yoga teacher in India, after initially training in Hatha Vinyasa in Madrid. A dedicated yoga practitioner for many years, she found a deep connection with yoga through the Jivamukti practice, which introduced her to mantras and the renowned "way of life" philosophy. She feels a strong desire to share yoga practices and teachings with everyone around her. Candela works both as a Yoga teacher and at an advertising agency, enjoying the blend of yoga with the fast-paced, chaotic life of the city and the corporate world.
For her, consistent yoga practice is fundamental. Her classes are dynamic and introspective; energizing and relaxing at the same time.

Marlise Calderon
Yoga practitioner for more than ten years, in 2020 she completed her 200 hrs multi-style teacher training (Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin) at Green Yoga International, an Indian school based in Mallorca, Spain. Since then she has not stopped training and educating herself, first in the beautiful practice of Yin yoga (50 hrs at Zentro Urban Yoga, Madrid, with Carolina Drake) and later on with another 100 hrs of supplementary training with her teacher Candida Vivalda and Sarah Florance, also at ZUY. Throughout this journey, she discovered and felt in love with the practice of Jivamukti yoga, a method that led her to the path of Bhakti. She got her 300 hrs certification in the spring of 2022, guided by the amazing Yogeswari Azahar and Moritz Ulrich.
Majo Maitret
María José is a 300Hr Jivamukti Yoga teacher and was introduced to Iyengar Yoga back in 2008 while also doing contemporary dance. She was studying textile design at the time when her mom took her to her first Jivamukti Yoga class with Paloma Baker and she fell in love with the method because it involved not only physical practice but mantra meditation and music during the flow which made the experience atomically blissful. Always with a curious mind about the effects of meditation within consciousness and the intangible she began reading and practicing more, which lead her to finally decide to embark on becoming a teacher herself and that way share the magic of yoga.
Maria Maitret
She was born in Veracruz, Mexico and her first contact with yoga was Iyengar in 2008 which gave her the understanding of alignment and it’s importance. Later on she moved to Puebla, little by little falling more in love with yoga. There she met Paloma Baker and she got more profound in her practice mainly with Ashtanga Yoga and got introduced to the Jivamukti Yoga Method . After many years of practicing, an Ashtanga Vinyasa certification and different workshops, she was convinced she wanted to be able to share the joy she felt each time she practiced.
In 2021 she got her Jivamukti 300hr certification in Salento, Italy; under the teachings of Emma Henry and Yogeswari de Azahar.
Her classes are inspiring, uplifting, fun and a place where students can feel safe to re-connect.
Aida Artiles
Her journey with Jivamukti Yoga began in 2011 while living in New York. From the very first class, she was captivated. She memorized sequences and chants to practice on her own while traveling or back in Spain, where Jivamukti was still hard to find—especially in the Canary Islands.
Over time, her commitment deepened, often practicing twice a day. In 2016, her teacher Rima Rabbath asked if she’d consider becoming a teacher. Inspired to share the practice that had brought her back to life, she completed the 300-hour Jivamukti training in Costa Rica in 2017, followed by an 80-hour apprenticeship in Barcelona with María Macaya. She soon began teaching in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
Cristina Sagues
She passionately shares yoga practices as a transformational path toward awareness and compassion, blending traditional teachings with a modern lifestyle. A native of Madrid, she discovered yoga in 2018, marking the beginning of a committed path of personal and spiritual discovery. Recently, she dedicates herself full-time to teaching, previously she built a professional career in the business, sustainability and technology fields. Her classes are vigorous, energizing, and yet intimate and calming. With an emphasis on conscious breathing and devotion, Cristina guides students to reconnect with the peace and joy that already resides within each of us.
